based on true story ..
it was peak of monsoon season in bhaaratam .. every year, heavy downpour usually disrupts major city of mumbai at least for a day or two - which is otherwise called 24x7 non-stop (unstoppable) maximum city .. our flights were booked from Mumbai airport in such a time (one cannot predict the exact day when such situation will align and hence you hope for best) .. plus we 3 had to travel by train from amdavaad to Mumbai for our international flights .. We got to experience Tejas express in the process .. Just a day or two ago, our son asked a friend - what they want from bhaaratam .. and in response he received a specific image - of what they had liked from the past .. specific "kutchi peda" from some shop (not a chain) .. he casually thought of ignoring such request which was equivalent to try and "find a needle in the haystack" :-D
but i felt little more adventurous .. having some time (and network connectivity) on hand - i gave the image to google .. and it searched up a shop which was far off (maybe somewhere in "bhuj" or "mundra" - a city far off in further west from amdavaad) .. i could also find a phone number and gave it a try as long shot .. the guy mentioned it is far off from amdavaad - and we did not have enough time to try "porter" (app that has become popular in bhaaratam to get things - even across cities) .. but on further probing, i figured out that they do regularly send peda (perishable dessert item) to mumbai .. and have a shop (outlet for retail purchase) there as well ... i became further adventurous and placed order for a packet of kutchi peda from 'bhuj' (or some such far off place) while sitting in amdavaad to be delivered in Mumbai ... the timing of heavy rains all along made it further adventurous .. but finally, while being on long train journey and back and forth calling/texting over a long period - we could finally get perishable food item delivered from some 800+ kms (that too in middle of heavy rain and severe weather condition) in a place where we did not live .. thanks to technology and enterprising people involved .. just to be able to reinforce belief in the saying "where there is a will there is a way - or there are peda" [it is a different story that the package flew several thousand kilometers from mumbai to toronto - via few in between stops - and then reached our son's friend - probably in Ottawa after being stuck in refrigerator for several days]
